Steve Harvey reams into Bill O'Reilly for his hateful Michael Jackson coverage... [18 Jul 2009|09:32pm]

Preach it, Steve. The only thing I disagree with you on is that his children are white...it's pretty obvious that they're biracial. But everything else? Perfect.

O'Reilly is so blatantly hateful. I still can't get over his reaction to the myriad of things Al Sharpton listed as Michael's legacy..."it doesn't matter."

Youngest Willis already a trainwreck? [18 Jul 2009|05:00pm]

[winniechili]

The youngest of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis‘ children, Lula Belle Willis (formerly Tallulah) celebrated her older sister Scout’s 1920s-themed 18th birthday at Cicada restaurant in Los Angeles last night (July 17).

The 15-year-old celebuspawn feted the big day by losing her shoes, flirting with an older man cocktail-in-hand and carrying around a timeless accessory — her own pack of Marlboro lights!!

Miss Willis concluded the evening by being escorted out by her friends who all carefully steadied her as she tried to avoid the watchful glare of step-dad Ashton Kutcher.

Good news though — she found her shoes!

Ahh yes, every 15 year old loves the Marlboros... )

Report: Paparazzi and Security Guards Clash Outside Gosselin Photo Shoot

Kate Gosselin's Saturday business trip to New York City turned suddenly – and briefly – sour when photographers trying to take her picture were blocked by security guards outside a photo studio.

Earlier in the day, Gosselin and her eight children had checked into a midtown Manhattan hotel to prepare for a TLC photo shoot that afternoon, which also included the Duggar family and the stars of the network's reality show The Little Couple.

Sometime after 3 p.m., Kate and her kids left the hotel and were followed by a pack of photographers. But when the group arrived at the City Stage studio in the Chelsea neighborhood, security guards attempted to keep the photographers back using umbrellas, styrofoam boards and folding event tables, according to an eyewitness.

Kate's own security detail tried to keep the children out of harm's way and rushed them into the studio. "It must have been very upsetting for the kids," says one observer.

Jon Gosselin was not seen during the disturbance. Earlier in the day, he was spotted moving belongings, including a flat-screen TV, into his new apartment on Broadway.

The New York Police Department's Deputy Commissioner of Public Information had no information on the incident, and efforts to confirm details TLC have so far been unsuccessful.

But the kid is not my son [19 Jul 2009|03:06am]

ohnotheydidnt

[icy_paprika]

While this rumor is apparently somewhat old, it was the first we’ve ever heard of Michael Jackson having a secret biological son. The kid in question is Omer Bhatti, who’s in his early twenties and hails from Norway. Omer has been close with the pop star since the mid-90s, when he began touring with the singer and living on and off at Neverland Ranch. While Jackson supposedly told people that Bhatti is his son (the result of a one-night-stand with a Norwegian fan), others claim they met after he wowed M.J. with an on-point impression of the singer as a kid. “I’m not surprised Michael says he’s the father,” a source told Fox News in 2004. “It’s a fantasy. But these people did not exist in Michael’s life before 1996.”

Omer is allegedly convinced that he is Jackson’s son and is desperate for a DNA test to prove it. He was spotted yesterday by photographers shopping for groceries before heading over to the Jackson family home, where Michael’s three kids currently reside. Going to visit his siblings, perhaps?

Check out the pics above of Omer - taken yesterday- and Michael, from when he was around 20 years old (and - we think - before plastic surgery). Do you see a resemblance? [Photos: GettyImages/Splash News Online]

THE GREAT BRITISH THESPIANS OF HARRY POTTER

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Star-Studded Cast
One of the smartest decisions made by the creative team behind the Harry Potter films was to cast the adult roles from the very cream of British thespians. If you're among the brightest luminaries of the London stage or international screen — and if you weren't too famously connected with the competing Lord of the Rings trilogy, like Sir Ian McKellen — you've probably played a Harry Potter witch or wizard. Some of these stars, like Julie Christie and Kenneth Branagh, have appeared only fleetingly or in a single film; others, like Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon, are at the core of the enterprise. The series is essentially about the coming of age of Daniel Radcliffe's Harry, but the actors who have played his guardians and tormentors have given Radcliffe, and millions of delighted viewers, lessons in effortless screen éclat.

Potter, take Weasley with you. He looks far too happy up there. )

Kate Gosselin and Kids: Out in NYC [18 Jul 2009|05:23pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[lostwithme]

Taking the family for a Big Apple adventure, Kate Gosselin arrived to New York City with the kids on Saturday morning (July 18).

There for a photo shoot with TLC, the reality star mom was helped out by two sitters and security as they unloaded from a van and headed into their midtown Manhattan hotel.

With Jon busy getting his brand new apartment together, Miss Gosselin walked along while telling her kids outside of the hotel, “Yes, this is where we are staying.”

According to People magazine reports, the hotel prepared for the family’s arrival by blocking off two elevators and two suites for the Gosselin’s use during their short stay in town.

Russell Crowe considering new 'Master & Commander' movie [18 Jul 2009|06:30pm]

Russell Crowe is in the early stages of negotiations to reprise the role of Jack Aubrey as a British sea captain in a new movie version from the Master & Commander series of novels. Crowe told The Associated Press on Friday that a script based mostly on the eleventh novel of Patrick O'Brian's 20-novel series, The Reverse of the Medal, had been written, but that discussions were at a very early stage.

"There's still a long way to go," the New Zealand-born actor told AP at a cricket match between England and Australia in London. He said talks had been taking place with the owner of the rights to the novels.

The Aubrey/Maturin novels consists of 20 books and one partly written before his death in 2000 by O'Brian, all set during the Napoleonic Wars.

OMG please let this happen. Master & Commander is such an amazing movie, Crowe and Bettany have insane chemistry and Peter Weir needs to get on this one more time. Aubrey and Maturin are my OTP.

Mike Fisher sees poverty first hand

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The sports pages this summer are filled with stories of athletes living dangerously, acting selfishly, dying young, in some cases.

Then there is the story of Mike Fisher, a hockey player who likes to see the world -- and not just the glam scene -- outside the bubble of the professional athlete.

In late May, Fisher, a 29-year-old centre for the Ottawa Senators, spent four days in El Salvador, including two intense days working with the poor of the Central American country. While he was there, he helped film a commercial for World Vision, which has set a target of 2,000 child sponsorships from the Ottawa area in the weeks ahead.

Paula Abdul's manager: She'll leave "Idol" [18 Jul 2009|05:06pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[crazyjaney]
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Paula Abdul is unhappy. And unless the producers of "American Idol" change her frown to a smile soon, she'll dance like there's no tomorrow away from TV's No. 1 show.

"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,' " David Sonenberg, Abdul's manager, told The Times when contacted about the judge's contract negotiations.

With auditions for the ninth season due to start Aug. 6, Sonenberg says he doesn't even have a proposal for a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show. The new season is scheduled to premiere in January.

"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," he said of the contract holdup. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

[Updated at 11:59 p.m.: Sonenberg began managing Abdul at the end of June, he said. According to him, he has "reached out to the head of business affairs at 19" and told Fox that "Paula would love to be on the show." He said Fox told him he would hear from them, but "I have not received any proposal whatsoever."]

Representatives for Fremantle, 19 and Fox all separately declined to comment.

When TV stars (or their reps) air contract-renewal gripes in the media, it's often a sign that negotiations are entering a more active phase. Abdul -- whose tearful, tongue-tied feedback to contestants have made her a kind of batty sister figure to star "Idol" judge Simon Cowell -- may have special reasons to want to push the ball forward now, given that "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest just signed a deal worth a reported $45 million that will keep him on the job for at least the next three years. That pact effectively doubled Seacrest's salary.

Meanwhile, Cowell has a contract that expires next year and is jockeying for his own rich new payday. Published reports have floated a mind-blowing figure of $144 million, which Cowell has scoffed at, saying that talks are ongoing. (Fellow judge Randy Jackson is booked through 2011.)

But the situation is more complicated for Abdul. Last season, the producers added a fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi. Producers have not announced a deal with DioGuardi either, but the speculation is that her presence at the judging table may have been a shrewd move to tamp down any outsize contract demands that Abdul and her team might make. For their parts, both DioGuardi and Abdul have said recently that they want to return to the show. (DioGuardi's publicist did not respond to a request for comment.)

But in Abdul's case, that seems dependent on getting the right dollar amount. Sonenberg has said his client has not been well-compensated in the past.

She's already looking toward an "Idol"-less future, he says, though Abdul's foray into non-"Idol" programming, the 2007 Bravo show "Hey Paula," was not a success.

"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," Sonenberg said. "I think at this point we're going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows."

Rock Band Network could bring every song ever made to Xbox Live
BY Joseph DeLia Jul. 17th, 2009

Harmonix has announced an all new way to create, share, and sell your music online: the Rock Band Network. This service allows musicians to upload the master recordings of any tune that they possess the rights to, have a Harmonix team member map out the guitar, drum, bass, and vocal gameplay tracks for use in Rock Band, and then have this future chart-topper unleashed on an unsuspecting public via Xbox Live. Artists are also allowed to craft the instrument tracks themselves with the help of the Reaper Digital Audio Workstation and Rock Band 2’s new Audition Mode, ensuring that even the most ardent control freaks will be happy.

Once uploaded, the song will be made available for testing purposes to Rock Band Network members who also possess a XNA Creator’s Club Premium account, which costs $99 per year. After their diddy has been checked, it will be submitted for peer review before eventually making its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Rock Band Store. Artists will receive a cut of the action, and are allowed to choose from several pricing tiers before their song goes on sale. Certain stand out songs could also appear on PSN and Wii, though this wouldn’t happen until a month after the song makes its 360 debut. Harmonix has also stated that they will help promote people’s music, though they didn’t exactly say how.

The Rock Band Network is open to both indie bands as well as established artists, allowing anyone with a song and some know how to get in on the action. The program will go into beta this August, with the full roll out for the network happening this fall. All interested parties can check out the official site for more information, and should contact the below gentleman if they need some mean guitar playing for their homage to “Through the Fire and Flames.”

Paul McCartney Plays Citi Field, Dedicates Song To Linda [18 Jul 2009|04:39pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[cherrule]
NEW YORK - Sir Paul McCartney knighted another New York Mets ballpark Friday night, playing the first concert ever at Citi Field.

"Long time since I've been here," the former Beatle told the crowd, then paused to take it all in.

Citi Field is the successor to Shea Stadium, where the Beatles played a historic concert in 1965 that's regarded as the precursor to the stadium rock concert.

Several times on Friday, McCartney alluded to that magical night 44 years ago. But he was also made it clear that it was less than perfect at times, saying: "The first time we played here, we couldn't hear a thing because of all the girls screaming and the stadium sound system."

"We'd like to do a song dedicated to Linda," McCartney said. "She was a New York girl."

He also played the Beatles classics "Hey Jude," Let It Be" and "Back in the USSR."

When he performed "A Day in the Life," McCartney swapped out John Lennon's part at the end with a version of Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance," asking the crowd to join in.

For the encore, McCartney brought out Billy Joel for "I Saw Her Standing There."
